MEET WHOA CO-FOUNDERS
ALLISON + DANIELLE
Allison Fleece & Danielle Thornton met planning their first trip to Kilimanjaro, and they immediately knew it was a match made in adventure heaven. What they didn't know is that their first experience would not be their last OR that climbing Kilimanjaro would change their lives forever. After their first trip up Mt. Kilimanjaro, they were hooked and knew they were onto something - the unique combo of adventure travel, connection, and camaraderie was something they needed to share! Over the next six months they poured their heart and souls into starting WHOA travel and building a community of strong adventurous women all around the world. In 2013, Allison and Danielle left their full time jobs in International Education and Advertising to pursue their dream - using their unique style to motivate women to step out of their comfort zones and take on the world!
When they're not adventuring somewhere in the world, Allison and Danielle live in Jersey City and Munich (respectively). The duo that is Dallison has multiplied since 2013, and now includes Kai, Bear the Polar Dog, WHOA’s official four-legged mascot, and Zoe and Eva, who are already training for the 2037 and 2039 International Women’s Day Kilimanjaro summits.
Dallison have collectively visited over 80 countries, all 7 continents, and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro 15 times...and counting. If there’s one thing they’ve learned it’s that the adventure never ends - it only keeps expanding as the WHOA family does!
A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDERS
When we started WHOA, we were two young women looking for more out of life than the grind of New York City. We had no idea that our Kilimanjaro-sized dream would change our lives so much, or that it would take on a life of its own and evolve into the strong community of adventurous women it is today! A lot has changed since the beginning days, but so much has stayed true to our foundation. Our curiosity, passion and willingness to learn is still there and growing. And, we still operate from our hearts and believe that there’s a bigger purpose and meaning in the adventures we take. We think you ended up here, reading this, for a reason. We’re honored and ready to be by your side on your journey, and to have you beside us on ours! Together, we’re unstoppable!
