OUR SHIP
Our small, and mighty ship! The MS Seaventure was custom built for both the challenges and opportunities that only Antarctica can offer. Its size is formidable enough to deliver a supreme level of comfort and safety even in challenging seas, yet small enough to provide a superior level of personalized service, casual luxury, and flawless access to all things Antarctica!
Its state-of-the-art stabilizing system provides safe, comfortable passage through even rough seas, and its ice rating is second-to-none in these waters. This means Seaventure can usher you into places (and amazing experiences) that regularly turn away lesser ships. The Seaventure doesn’t compromise on comfort or sustainability. Its introduction in 2021, allowed us to reduce our per-passenger emissions by 20%!
The Seaventure features an outer viewing deck that circles the entire ship, and an outdoor dining area and heliport where we host events whenever weather permits. Indoors, our elegant dining areas and spacious presentation room surround you with oversized windows, so you’ll never have to miss a passing iceberg or an impromptu sighting of a Humpback or school of Orcas. Even the treadmills and ellipticals in our gym keep your eyes trained on the mesmerizing Antarctic landscape. Now kick back, watch this video tour, and imagine yourself here:

ACTIVITIES
CAMPING
Antarctica is not your typical destination, and camping in Antarctica is not your typical camping experience! While others are sleeping in their cabins, you’ll have the surreal experience of being snuggled up in a bivy sack that will allow you to truly experience your surroundings; a breathtaking spot near the edge of the water, surrounded by a landscape rarely seen by human eyes. Aside from essential safety supplies, it’s just you under the midnight sun, the waves, and the ice!
KAYAKING
To experience Antarctica up close and personal, there’s no better seat than in a kayak, just inches above the water, navigating among icebergs and glacial ice dating back 30,000 years. Gliding through an otherworldly landscape with a small team, led by our expert guides, and occasionally joined by a family of playful penguins or seals, is about as intimate and magical as it gets!
HIKING + SNOWSHOEING
A day hiking in Antarctica means you are wandering where few have gone before. There are no set trails for hiking (unless you count the ‘penguin highways’), just rocky or snowy terrain for you to explore. Those seeking an active challenge may prefer hiking to a high vantage point to take in the incredible views, while others may choose to hike along the shore. There are always several hiking options, so no matter what your preference, exploring on foot is one of the best ways to experience the amazing areas.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Whatever your level of experience, and whatever camera you carry, our award-winning photography coaches will help you bring home images that capture the unparalleled natural beauty and sheer magic of your Antarctica adventure! On every voyage, a dedicated photography coach will be at your disposal with invaluable tips and advice on how to capture the natural beauty of this unique landscape and wildlife – in the light and weather conditions that can make Antarctica both special and challenging to photography lovers of all skill sets.
CITIZEN SCIENCE
Having this program on every voyage is an effort Polar Latitudes pioneered, as the very first Antarctic operator to officially collaborate with The Polar Citizen Science Collective. We continue to team up with them on several projects, like Phytoplankton Data for Scripps and Cloud Observations for NASA, giving all our passengers the chance to play a meaningful role in recording and better understanding the Antarctic ecosystem and the impact of climate change. This is particularly helpful in the Antarctic, where we support long-term academic observation teams that would find it nearly impossible to be as ever-present on their own.

Our ship, the MS Seaventure, doesn’t compromise on comfort or sustainability. Its introduction, in 2021, allowed Polar Latitudes to reduce their per-passenger emissions by 20% compared to previous ships. Onboard, PL has reduced the use of plastic by 50% over the last 3 years, with a goal of zero unrecycled plastic by 2025. Even PL’s expedition jackets, produced by Shackleton of London, will be 100% recycled by the ’24-‘25 season.
At WHOA, our goal is to do everything we can to minimize and offset the negative impacts of adventuring, and to help preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity in the places we explore. We want to leave destinations in a better state than we found them, and for all of our adventurers to leave as more empowered eco-warriors!
We calculate and compensate for our footprint through certified offsetting programs. We reduce our consumption and footprint, and Leave No Trace wherever possible. We set big goals, like being Climate Neutral, and take steps every day towards being more sustainable.
To keep ourselves in check, we look to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to help us measure our financial, environmental, and human impact across everything from equality to protecting our ecosystems.

Yes! All passengers must carry a Travel Insurance Plan. This Plan must cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, evacuation expenses, and pre-existing medical conditions. Your plan should also include coverage for cancellation & trip interruption. Potential evacuation from Antarctica can cost up to $150,000 so we recommend that no policy carry less than this amount of coverage.
IMG and Battleface both provide plans that cover the Antarctic region.
-
All hotel rooms and staterooms on the ship are sold as twins (2 pax per room). The price quoted is the per person cost for a twin room. There are a limited number of triple rooms available and singles are available at 1.7x the cost of a standard berth. Check out Polar Latitude’s 360 Room Tours for more details!

No two days in Antarctica are the same, and nothing about it is “typical”. However, to get a good sense of what to expect, PL has broken down a timeline so you can see the general flow of our days in Antarctica.
